While these gangs showed impressive skills, teamwork and determination during the Club Wars session on April 19, it’s still too early to predict who will be the Ultimate Conqueror per server. However, their performance truly raised the public’s expectations. The problem now is whether or not they will live up to the performance they showed.

Why im not yet upgrading to DirectX 10

Looking to upgrade to Direct X 10 and Windows Vista? I think it would be best if we hold off for a couple of months. Why? Aside from the fact that I’ve got no money to splurge on an upgrade, there are simply not that many games that take advantage of DX10. Sure we got Crysis and Hellgate London coming soon but we’re talking months here. Those 8600GTS’es and 8800GTX’es will surely drop in price in the coming months (not to mention the arrival of faster chips as well). Prices of other components such as processors and RAM will also follow suit.
There is no rush to upgrade to DX10. Once mainstream games become Vista only exclusives then maybe, but not right now…
Why Patapon is a Filipino Game

Have you ever played Patapon? The quirky game is easily one of the best ever made for the PlayStation Portable, and it’s well worth the price of a UMD.
On top of that, Patapon also indulges any Filipino’s sense of patriotism. Many of the game’s words are English, but some are Filipino. To wit:
- “Patapon” is Tagalog for “throw.”
- The default name of the player character, “Kami”, means “we” in the non-inclusive sense.
- Some of the monster names, like “Motiti”, feature Tagalog words. Filipinos know what we’re talking about.
- “Chaka”, one of the drum beats the player uses to control the Patapon army, is part of Filipino gay lingo.
- “Pata”, another drum beat, means “thigh.”

Pay to Play or Free to Play

Local game publishers need to earn somehow from locally published games. The amount of money that goes into development, management, support and marketing these games is really no joke. We currently have two game models: One is Free to Play, where you actually can play the game for free but premium items are bought in an item mall, and Two is via Pay to Play where you actually pay for gametime similar to World of Warcraft’s (and others) subscription based model. Of course you have Guild Wars where you pay for the boxed game but don’t pay anything for gametime and doesn’t have an item mall. While GW’s approach is unique, it’s not the only alternative payment method its publisher NCSoft has devised. More >

After Pau Gasol, could it be Shaquille O’Neal’s turn to be traded?
The seemingly improbable pairing of an aging Shaquille O’Neal and the run-and-gun Phoenix Suns is a “yes” from the Suns away from happening, according to NBA front-office sources.
Sources told ESPN.com on Tuesday night that the Miami Heat are poised to send O’Neal to the Suns in exchange for All-Star forward Shawn Marion and out-of-favor guard Marcus Banks. Miami is just waiting for Phoenix management to either accept or reject what would rank as one of the most unexpected trades in league history.
“It looks like it’s going to happen,” said one source close to the situation. “We should know for sure by tomorrow.”

It has been years already after the legendary battle in the world of Cronous happened wherein the three revered first-class gods Lapis, Exiliss and Coellis defeated the alien first-class god Maquapel. The three gods vanquished the evil that is Maquapel by sacrificing themselves in the final battle of the gods: Lapis took Maquapel’s heart with him and sealed himself in the torn Leto Island, while his brother Exiliss sealed Maquapel’s heartless body inside himself at Uranus. The youngest brother Coellis, who had taken the first move to fight Maquapel off their continent, lived in a shrine to watch over the people and vowed to protect them. For years, the world of Cronous experienced peace and tranquility—until an insurgence started to arise, threatening to divide the gods and people of Cronous once more.

Who will emerge as the first WarRock Philippine Team?

Every battle must come to an end.
After several rounds and explosive matches during eliminations in the past months, Amped Games’ nationwide tournament “WarRock World Championship: Road to Korea” will finally see through its efforts of finding the top WarRock team in the Philippines to represent the country in Korea for the WarRock World Championship Finals during the prestigious Game and Game World Championship Finals on December 1, 2007..
Eight teams from all over the Philippines will battle it out on November 10, 2007, from 11AM onwards, in Station 168 Eastwood, Libis, Quezon City for the title of the first WarRock Philippine Team.
Teams can join the tournament through two categories: the regional tournaments or the online tournaments. In the regional tournaments, the competing teams will have to be present in a designated tournament location, while online tournaments are given as another option for teams who cannot make it to a regional location but would like to participate in the tournament.
The roster of semifinalists has finally been completed upon the conclusion of eliminations last October 27 in Baguio, except for the final slot in the online tournament category which will be decided on November 10 before the tournament finals start. Dubbed “Z-Wars”, Teams Zero Orange and Zion will face off in a bid to win the last slot of the eight semifinalists. WarGods qualified in the Cebu Regionals, Barriers in the Davao Regionals, Ambush in the NCR Regionals and Baguio Clan Uno (BC1) in the Baguio Regionals. Online tournament winners include Torment, Papable Momol, Accrecia.
Some teams play for the fun of it, while some have gone as serious as drawing the WarRock maps on a notebook and creating different plays for each map.
Rex Aborot, a.k.a. SgtKagawad of Team Ambush said he’s nervous about the upcoming competition, but they are generally “happy and very excited,” said his teammate WrenCris Cañizares, a.k.a. Roshan.
During the eliminations, some Regional Tournaments even served as grounds for some players to meet their team mates for the first time like Team Barriers, winner of the Davao Regionals. “If we lose, we’ll still be smiling. But we’ll always try our best for Davao,” said Berny Mollenido, a.k.a. 6sperm9. “We didn’t expect to win, but we give our 100% in the tournament,” said another Barriers member Greg Go.
All semi-finalists will be given cash prizes from Amped Games. PhP100,000 will be awarded to the team who will win 1st Place, plus airfare and accommodations to Korea; PhP50,000 to the 2nd Place winner, PhP25,000 to the 3rd and 4th Place winners; and PhP15,000 to each team who made up the 5th Place to the 8th Place.
Amped Games, the local publisher of WarRock, will be training the winning team before sending them to Korea. The winning team will be competing against other WarRock national champion clans from Japan, America, Europe and Korea and will be awarded the Best Gamers title plus a total grand prize of USD$5,000.

Game and Game World Championship
Game and Game World Championship (GNGWC) event is an international game competition organized by the Korean Ministry of Information and Communication (KIPA) in 2006 to promote Korean online games to the world. Last year alone on GNGWC’s first championship, the event had gathered about 1,070,000,000 gamers from around 80 countries, representing three online Korean games. This year, six other Korean online games will be participating including WarRock.
